  • ¼ cup milk Adds moisture to the egg mixture and enhances richness.

  • ½ teaspoon salt Essential to enhance the overall taste of the dish.
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper A simple seasoning that adds depth to the flavor profile.
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder Infuses an aromatic quality into the chicken.
  • ½ teaspoon paprika Adds warmth and color to the coating.
  • ¼ cup olive oil Helps achieve a golden-brown crust while frying.
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter Adds richness and enhances browning when combined with olive oil.
  • to taste fresh parsley, chopped A touch of freshness that brightens up the plate.
  • to serve lemon wedges Zesty lemon complements the rich flavors of Chicken Romano perfectly.

Method

  1. Prepare Your Ingredients: Start by gathering all your ingredients onto your kitchen counter for convenience. Make sure everything is prepped before you start cooking, including measuring out your flour, breadcrumbs, and cheese.
  2. Set Up Your Breading Station: In three shallow dishes, place the flour in one, whisk together eggs and milk in another, and combine breadcrumbs with grated Romano cheese along with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika in the last one.
  3. Coat the Chicken Breasts: Dredge each chicken breast first in flour to coat lightly, then dip into the egg mixture allowing any excess to drip off before finally pressing into the breadcrumb mixture to ensure an even coating.
  4. Heat Your Pan: Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking. This combination will give you a beautiful golden-brown color on your chicken while keeping it moist inside.
  5. Fry Until Golden Brown: Place your coated chicken breasts gently into the pan without overcrowding it. Fry each side for about 4-6 minutes or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Serve and Garnish: After frying, transfer your Chicken Romano onto paper towels to drain any excess oil briefly before plating. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with lemon wedges for an extra burst of flavor on each bite!
